ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE UPDATE

STILL TIME TO REGISTER FOR LONDON, SEPTEMBER 11, 2004 CONFERENCE ON WHAT THE NEW, STRENGTHENED ODA SHOULD INCLUDE

August 31, 2004

SUMMARY

There is still time for you to register to attend the Ontarians with
Disabilities Act Committee London Region's forthcoming policy conference, on
what a new ODA needs to include to make it strong and effective. This
conference will be interesting for you whether you are an ODA activist, a
member of a municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee, a government
official, an official with an organization that now has barriers impeding
persons with disabilities, or just interested in coming to learn and to
share your ideas.

Below please find an announcement from the conference organizers, and a
detailed agenda for the conference. Please circulate this announcement
widely, and encourage others to attend this conference. All inquiries should
be addressed to the conference organizers, listed below. Our thanks to all
who have taken on the huge task of organizing this event.

AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE CONFERENCE ORGANIZERS

Greetings to all who are attending "Still Waiting," the September 11th ODA
Committee London Region Forum. We are still accepting registrations for
those who are considering their participation. We have had a greater than
expected turnout for this event, and we are most excited by the response.
However, the numbers planning on attending have driven up our food costs.
Our goal was to present the forum free of charge, especially since so many
people were coming from across the province at their own expense. We find,
though, that this is impossible. We therefore ask that you contribute $10 on
the day of the event, if you are able, to cover lunch and all refreshments.
Those participants who are unwaged or on social assistance need not pay, nor
do our speakers for the day.

We apologize for this inconvenience and hope that you understand the
position in which we find ourselves. Thank you for helping us defray the
food costs of this forum. It promises to be an exciting day, and we look
forward to seeing you on September 11th!
