ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE UPDATEODA COMMITTEE SEEKS YOUR INPUT ON BARRIERS IN THE ELECTION PROCESS FACING VOTERS WITH DISABILITIES
March 20, 2003
SUMMARYThe ODA Committee asks you to give us feedback on barriers you have faced in the past, or that you know about, that have impeded persons with disabilities from being able to participate fully as informed voters in the provincial election process.
MORE DETAILSIt is widely expected that the Ontario Government will call a provincial election very soon. As part of our Barrier Busters Campaign, the ODA Committee shall be calling for the entire election and campaign process to be barrier-free. We want voters with disabilities to be able to participate fully and to be able to bring forward their issues to the public.
To help us with this effort, we want your feedback. Let us know about barriers you have experienced, or that you know others have experienced in past general elections or by-elections in Ontario. These barriers could pertain to actually voting, to getting to the polling station, to getting information about the election or the parties' positions, to participating in all-candidates' debates, or to any other aspect of the election campaign and voting process.
Email us as soon as possible at: oda@odacommittee.netLet's again put disabilities issues forward as a priority in this election, just as Ontarians with disabilities did so effectively in the 1999 election and several by-elections around Ontario since then.
