ODA Update
June 13, 2001

 

Two items of importance for today's update:

* We have learned that on the province-wide TV Ontario Program "Studio 2" will be an item on disability access issues. It is currently going to air for about six minutes on Thursday, June 14, at 8 p.m. and is repeated at 11 p.m. and then the next day, Friday, June 15, 2001 at 2 p.m. This slotting of this item is subject to change. The ODA will be specifically mentioned. The genesis of this item was the long para-transit strike in Ottawa.

 

* See the announcement below about the Thursday, June 21 All-Candidates' Debate during the Vaughan King Aurora by-election, in which the ODA will be emphasized.

The York Region disABILITY Network invites persons with disabilities and their community to join us THURSDAY JUNE 21st at 8 pm for the Aurora Town Hall All Candidates Meeting!

We intend to make the Ontarians with Disabilities Act a prominent issue in this regions by-election.

The meeting will be held at 100 John West Way in Aurora. We will be assembling in the parking lot at 7:30 to distribute brochures and assist people into the meeting. Transportation may be arranged by car pooling with some of our volunteers.

Please RSVP if possible, so we can let the media know how many people we anticipate. SEE YOU THERE!

It is imperative that we have a good turn out at this meeting to make it successful. Please come out to this event or send a representative on your behalf as we are trying to give a voice to 1.5 million people with disabilities who live in Ontario!
