ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE UPDATE
American Sign Language, Captioning, and Additional Accessible Room Confirmed for Thursday, November 25, 2004, Third Day of Second Reading Debate on Bill 118
November 23, 2004
SUMMARY
The Citizenship Ministry has confirmed that they have again arranged for a
meeting room, Room 163, at the Ontario Legislature at Queen's Park to be
made available this Thursday evening, November 25, 2004, from 6:45 p.m. to
9:30 p.m. for people to watch the third day of Second Reading debates on
Bill 118, the proposed Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. In
that room will be American Sign Language interpretation. Also, the TV
broadcast of the proceedings will again be captioned. This debate will also
be on your local cable service's Ontario Legislature channel live, and then
repeated over night. We again encourage you to come to watch all or even some of the proceedings.
The Government is breaking important ground by providing these
accommodations for persons with disabilities. As in the past you can also watch the debates in the public galleries, as
per earlier ODA Committee updates. The advantage of coming to Room 163 is
that it provides us with a chance to meet others who are interested in this
important issue. We appreciate the Ontario Government making these arrangements.
