ONTARIANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMMITTEE UPDATE
Ontario Government Makes Arrangements for an Accessible Room, A.S.L. and Captioning for First Day of Second Reading Debate on Bill 118
November 5, 2004
We have just been advised by the office of Citizenship Minister Dr. Marie
Bountrogianni that the Government of Ontario has taken the following steps
to improve accessibility for the first day of Second Reading debates,
November 18, 2004, on Bill 118, the proposed Accessibility for Ontarians
with Disabilities Act. We are advised that there will be:* American Sign Language interpretation
* In addition to the very limited accessible seats in the galleries of the
legislature, an accessible room will be available to view the proceedings on
a TV monitor.* In that room, captioning will be available for those who require it as
well.We will provide further details when we get word of them. We appreciate the
Government providing these Accommodations. If other accommodations are
