Dear Mr. Lepofsky:
Thank you for your letters of October 15, 1997 and November 19, 1997 regarding the proposed Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
I appreciate the importance of this matter to the committee and note that in a letter dated November 19th, 1997 to the Honourable Isabel Bassett, Minister of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation, you have also expressed your views and requested a meeting with the minister. As the issues you address would be more appropriately raised with Ms. Bassett, I have asked her to respond to your letter and your request to meet on behalf of the government.
Let me assure you that our government remains committed to the interests and dignity of persons with disabilities and is sensitive to the challenges that they face. Again, I thank you for your letters and for raising this important issue with me.
Sincerely,
Michael D. Harris, MPP
